Saint Michael the Archangel

Michael was the angel who defeated Lucifer in his uprising against God and cast him into hell. He is frequently depicted as slaying a 'dragon' in reference to Lucifer. We must all slay our metaphorical dragons. Here Michael, dressed in orthodox Greek garb, slays a minor dragon with a spear to the mouth, indicating triumph over bad speech habits. Michael weighs the hearts of those who would enter paradise against one of his own feathers. The lesson is obvious.  A 'light,' joyful heart is beloved of God. St. Michael's feast day is September 29.
